Edmond Ng is a Senior Statistical Analyst at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a member of the London Chinese community for 20 years. He is a panel member of the Scientific Review Committee for The Health Improvement Network (THIN). His research interests include burden of disease estimation, pharmacoepidemiology and multilevel modelling.
Edmond recently published an article in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, explaining how Covid-19 is driving a pandemic of hate, not just in the UK but also in many other countries. He pointed out that Covid-19 ‘is claiming victims because of not only its transmissibility and virulence but also its ability to spread fear and ignorance’. We must therefore ‘deny stigma and racism a foothold to foment hate and division, and replace it with unity across all communities to spread empathy and compassion, and to strengthen our collective resolve to defeat COVID-19 together’.

He also moderated a webinar 'Discrimination and racism during the Coronavirus outbreak‘ and contributed to a podcast 'Viruses don’t discriminate’ where he interviewed Jabez Lam from Hackney Chinese Community Service to discuss the experience of the Chinese and East Asian communities during the outbreak in London and the rest of the UK.
